Mouchette.org is an online art work about a pseudonymous character, an artist come from Amsterdam, who calls herself “Mouchette”. The opening page of the website is mainly pink in colour. The image that covers the screen is a close up of a pink rose, with dew on the petals, and a fly crawling across it. In the top left hand corner there are a number of boxes next to which are the words “My name is Mouchette”, I live in Amsterdam”, “I am nearly 13 years old” and other statements of the kind. In the following paragraphs we are going to descibe the work in detail.
It is based on a movie;Mouchette (1966) by Robert Bresson , which showed the final two days of an unhappy young girl’s life and a book ;Nouvelle Histoire de Mouchette (1937;Mouchette, 1966) written by Bernanos, Georges.(Encyclopædia Britannica)

This website is talking about sex, injury, violence, loneliness, hatred and death from the story of Mouchette which mainly based on a film in 1967 about the 13 year-old girl raped in the forest. The website contains some sexual arousal content and bloody images which makes the audience feel uncomfortable and sick.

The website asks audience to leave comment and to do something uneasy, like asking to kiss the lip on the screen to feel her tongue. There is quite a number of sound effectsembed in the page with scary and bloody photos. We can hear scream, sound of breath and crying,etc.

The composition is just like the normal website, but it always has some transparency buttons, we have to highlight and see where is the buttons. This website has a lot of photos, althought the photos are colourful, they are all about scary things, and the mood is bad. And there are ants and spiders walking on the website.

Apart from the insects, the noicy sound is also very annoying that helps create a mysterious atmosphere.

It is controversial for the reason of sexual arousal content and whether it can be defined as a work of art.
Some people may feel disgusting, because of the sounds.
The way that the girl was raped by a man, the wat the website out the small sequence of photos to be a cursor in one page of the website, which is bad and scary.

We feel scary of the sounds, eg, the laughing sounds, the woman screaming sound. And the photos are not horrible.
My classmates think the website is shocking, horrible but creative. Some believe the site is a impressive work of art.
· A conclusion
I think the website is quite special, unique and impressive. But the sound is quite astonishing and terrible. Some of the pictures are colorful and fresh, like the photos of flowers, however there are always flies surround the background. It implies rotten, decomposition and death, accompanies with the sound effect, they all make me feel upset. Besides, some of the photos are really disgusting and bloody. Something like obscure human fresh, disbanded body were shown, it generate the feeling of hopeless and helpless.
