Hypermedia Virtual Portrait
Hypermedia- Virtual Portrait « Introduction to Digital Art
In this project, create a self-portrait that tells your story through hyperlinked and aggregated media. To make this project, you will create a homepage that links to information from the Internet and content you create. Consider projects like James Coupe’s “Something I hope to Understand, ” where he illustrates our everyday lives through user-generated media. On Mouchette.org, an artist constructs a fictional 13-year-old girl (named after the protagonist in Robert Bresson’s 1967 film). This project requires you to think about how your story is connected to the larger global, information network, whether it is from social media, your own content, or web media that intersects different parts of your story.
Essentially, you will build a single webpage and creatively use the hyperlinking tools in Dreamweaver (image maps, anchors, rollover images, etc.) to make an interactive self-portrait. The content for your page will come from appropriated online media that relates to your life story (e.g. websites about your favorite sports team, hometown, stores, hobbies, or blogs by other people that have shared your experiences, etc.). By linking to a wide variety of web content, you will create a virtual portrait, internet map, and interactive website.
The project is due Wednesday, April 7th. A rubric will be distributed in class.
