In a Korean University, they have an article about Mouchette which would have been the same all over the world, except that their screenshots are much wider than anywhere else…

mouchette.org

The Mouchette persona and Website are losely based on Robert Bresson’s 1967 film, “Mouchette”, about a suicidal adolescent girl who is raped in a forest at night. In 1996, a Web site that purport to be the work of an adolescent girl appeared at “http://mouchette.org” Visitors to the site are greeted with a lurid close up of a flower, its petals crawling with ants and flies, accompanied by a portrait of a sad-looking girl and the following text: :My name is Mouchette/ I live in Amsterdam/ I am nearly 13 years old/ I am an artist.” Some of the site’s content has a deceptively innocent quality. For example, clicking on the word “artist” on the home page leads to a page with the following text :”An artist? Yes. here is a tip :I heard that theonly way to become anartist is to say you are one. And thenyou can call ‘art’ evrything you make…Easy, he?”

“Sexually suggestive”themes are present throughout the site. One the opening page of the section named “digital flesh&blood” the background image is of a close up of a young girl¡¯s face, sticking out her tongue. The text accompanying this image reads: “Want to know what my tongue tastes like? Try it on your screen and tell me.”

Another page, titled “touche”, has a completely black background, with tiny white words scattered in different sections of the page. As the pointer scrolls over specific points on the page, sounds of a woman gasping are activated. Many pages of this website has interactive web forms that include multiple-choice questions asking your email address. Days or weeks later the viewer might get unexpected flirtatious email messages from Mouchette.
