Mouchette is one of the pseudonymous characters created by Martine Neddam. Mouchette is a 13 year girl, loosely based on a book and movie by the same name. The website is presents a navigable, non-linear, story where the viewer explores the complex – and sometimes grim – concepts through the innocent eye of a child, whilst questioning individuality and moral values in its medium.
Martine Neddam, creates characters through language. She develops virutal personas, based on litterature, with such care, that they become interchangeable with the artist. Neddam is one of the first artists to make use of the web; since 1996, with Mouchette.org.
