I found that the cat had no sound, and that’s really missing for the experience of the work.

Even this emulated environment doesn’t play the sound

This is what I wrote to them:

“Even if the script that shakes the cat is not as frantic as it should, it’s not as bad as the lack of sound.

The sound should be very annoying, forcing you to click the page away, forcing you to hit that moving button as soon as possible.

The sound is is not a cat’s sound, it’s a howl, the scream of a coyote maybe, in a never ending loop, something that I plucked from the web ages ago.

The format of that sound changed 2 or 3 times,  first .au and then flash and then embedded mp3

I have regularly repaired and modified the page to keep the spirit of the work and my version is fairly true to the one that was once was a splash page at rhizome.
